River Annan
Report
5th February 2010
We had a very small amount of snow last night but have
woken to a warm cloudy day. Perfect for grayling fishing.
The forecast is very favourable for the next two weeks.
Water height is around 12” above summer level and doesn’t
really get any better. The water is perfect for the fly or
long trotting.
From the 15th we will start our Spring Spey casting
courses. Now is the time to brush up on your technique
before putting all into practice for real later in the
season. Until the 15th March we are offering a special
spring rate for the early birds amongst you. Please call
or click for details.
Please take extra care when wading as the river bed may
have significantly changed from your last visit. |

Keith,
To let you know we arrived home safe and sound, if not
tired out and thoroughly contented, after the spey
casting tuition we booked with yourself on the River
Annan.
It was the best birthday present Steven has had. We
arrived home and he was out with the rod putting into
practice what you had shown us on the day.
As an elderly person!!!!!!???? I was worried that I may
not be able to cope with this new way of fishing, and
although it took me a little longer to master the basics
I can assure you that your patience, practical
demonstration, and hands on approach coupled with your
empathetic teaching skills were first class.
Although we primarily booked for the casting lessons,
your all round knowledge of the Annan river system, and
how to fish the different stretches of water, coupled
with tackle and initial setup advice made the day both
interesting and enjoyable.
We will be back up in a couple of weeks time to try and
bag that first salmon and I shall ring you to book
accommodation, and see if you will be available to
accompany my son and myself.
Once again Keith thanks for a great experience.
Mike and Steven Cook.
